EVERYONE DESERVES A DOULA
Welcome to the non-profit branch of Balanced Mama!
EDD exists to make services, support, equipment, and supplies relating to the birthing year (nine months of pregnancy and three months of postpartum) more accessible.
OUR STORY
Since Balanced Mama’s founding in 2020, a significant amount of research has been conducted on Arkansas' maternal and fetal outcomes, and overall outcomes for birthing people and babies in Arkansas have worsened. The numbers show a great need for intervention and systemic change in the world of maternal healthcare.
Fortunately, data has also shown that one way that poor maternal and fetal outcomes can improve is through the support and services of doulas! In efforts to support improved maternal and fetal outcomes, improve accessibility to the services Balanced Mama offers, and support growing families and the wider doula community in Central Arkansas, Balanced Mama formed a non-profit, Everyone Deserves a Doula (EDD).
Several members of EDD and Balanced Mama are involved in efforts and other groups who are pushing for statewide change of policy regarding the birthing people of Arkansas, but EDD exists to begin the practical work of creating change in our small corner of Arkansas. Regardless of governmental policy change, we want to begin the work of education and support for Central Arkansas families.
